AWS Solution Architect

Role: AWS Solution Architect (with migration experience) Location: Perth, WA, Australia Contract Type: 6 months with possible extension About the Role: We are seeking an experienced AWS Solution Architect to lead a large-scale cloud migration initiative. This role requires strong hands-on architecture experience in designing, planning, and executing end-to-end migrations from on-premises or legacy environments to AWS. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in migration strategy, assessment, execution, and optimization within enterprise environments. Key Responsibilities: Lead end-to-end cloud migration strategy and execution to AWS. Conduct application and infrastructure assessments (Discovery & Readiness). Design scalable, secure, and cost-optimized AWS architectures. Define migration patterns (Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Repurchase, Retire, Retain – 6R strategy). Work closely with stakeholders, DevOps, security, and infrastructure teams. Ensure compliance, governance, and security best practices. Optimize performance, cost, and reliability post-migration. Provide architectural documentation and best practice guidance. Required Skills & Experience 8+ years in IT infrastructure / cloud architecture. Strong hands-on experience with AWS services such as: EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, Lambda AWS Migration Hub, DMS, Application Migration Service (MGN) Proven experience in large-scale migration projects. Experience with hybrid environments and networking (VPN, Direct Connect). Strong understanding of security frameworks and governance. Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation). AWS Solution Architect Certification (Associate or Professional preferred) Nice to Have Experience in enterprise or government environments. Knowledge of containerization (EKS, ECS, Docker). Experience with cost optimization and Well-Architected Framework reviews.
