The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across East Lansing seeking Tool and Die Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit. Key Responsibilities Fabricate, repair, and maintain precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures. Operate and set up conventional and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, and grinders. Interpret complex blueprints, sketches, and 3D CAD models to determine specifications. Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot tooling issues to minimize downtime. Inspect finished tools and dies for accuracy and quality using precision measuring instruments. Select appropriate materials and heat treatment processes for tool construction. Collaborate with engineers and production teams to design and modify tooling for improved efficiency. Recommended Qualifications Completed apprenticeship or 5+ years of relevant experience in tool and die making. Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders, EDMs). Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and GD&T. Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMMs). Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for tooling and production issues.
