Key Responsibilities Develop, optimize, and qualify laser welding processes for various materials and applications. Program, set up, and troubleshoot laser welding equipment and associated automation. Perform root cause analysis on weld defects and implement corrective actions to improve quality and yield. Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure product designs are optimized for laser weldability. Create and maintain detailed process documentation, work instructions, and quality control plans. Conduct metallurgical analysis and material characterization of laser welded joints. Provide technical guidance and training to manufacturing personnel on laser welding techniques. Recommended Qualifications Proven expertise in laser welding process development, optimization, and parameter control for diverse materials in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of metallurgy, material science, and weldability principles, including defect analysis and root cause identification. Hands-on experience with industrial laser welding systems (e.g., fiber, YAG, CO2), beam delivery optics, and integration with robotics or automation. Demonstrated ability to implement and sustain robust laser welding processes in a high-volume production environment. Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Bonus Qualifications Experience with robotic programming (e.g., Fanuc, ABB) and automation integration. Proficiency in advanced metrology and non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques for weld inspection. Background in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies for process optimization. Familiarity with vision systems for weld tracking, inspection, or part recognition.
