Key Responsibilities Develop, optimize, and validate laser welding processes for manufacturing applications. Design, procure, and implement laser welding fixtures and tooling. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for laser weld defects. Qualify new laser welding equipment, materials, and processes according to industry standards. Provide technical expertise and training to production personnel on laser welding operations. Establish and maintain weld quality parameters and process control documentation. Collaborate with R&D and design teams to ensure manufacturability of new products involving laser welding. Recommended Qualifications Deep expertise in laser welding processes (e.g., fiber, YAG), parameter optimization, and defect analysis. Strong metallurgical background with experience in material characterization and weldability studies. Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, responsible for process development and continuous improvement of laser welding operations. Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and designing weld fixtures for laser applications. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex laser welding equipment, automation, and resolve production issues. Bonus Qualifications Experience with advanced laser welding techniques such as wobble welding, remote welding, or hybrid laser-arc welding. Proficiency in weld simulation software (e.g., SYSWELD, Simufact) or FEA for thermal modeling. Experience integrating laser welding processes with robotic systems or automated production lines. Advanced knowledge of metallurgy and material science related to dissimilar metal welding or exotic alloys.
