Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize laser welding processes and parameters for various materials and applications. Troubleshoot and resolve laser welding equipment and process issues to ensure production continuity. Design, procure, and implement laser welding fixtures, tooling, and automation solutions. Conduct metallurgical analysis and inspection of laser welded components to ensure quality standards. Specify, commission, and qualify new laser welding systems and associated peripherals. Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation, work instructions, and training programs. Drive continuous improvement initiatives for laser welding processes to enhance efficiency and quality. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Proven expertise in laser welding principles, processes (e.g., Nd:YAG, fiber, CO2), and equipment operation/maintenance. Strong knowledge of metallurgy, material science, and their application to laser weldability of various metals. Demonstrated experience in developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting laser welding processes for manufacturing applications. Proficiency in weld inspection techniques (e.g., visual, NDT, destructive testing) and implementing quality control measures. Familiarity with automation, robotics, and fixture design for integrated laser welding systems. Bonus Qualifications Experience integrating laser welding processes with robotic or automated manufacturing systems. Proficiency with FEA or other simulation software for predicting weld distortion and thermal effects. Familiarity with advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for weld quality assessment (e.g., CT scanning, phased array ultrasonic testing). Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification. Basic programming or scripting skills for data analysis and process optimization.
