Key Responsibilities Develop, optimize, and validate laser welding processes for various materials and applications. Program, set up, and troubleshoot laser welding equipment and robotic systems. Establish and monitor weld quality standards, performing metallurgical analysis and defect root cause analysis. Design and implement welding fixtures and tooling to ensure precise component alignment. Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability of components. Ensure strict adherence to all laser safety regulations and internal safety protocols. Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation, work instructions, and training materials. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Welding, or Manufacturing Engineering. 3-5 years of hands-on experience with industrial laser welding systems (fiber, Nd:YAG, CO2) in a manufacturing environment. Proven ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot laser welding processes for various materials and geometries. Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, material science, and their impact on weld quality and mechanical properties. Experience with weld fixture design, automation integration, and robot programming for laser welding applications. Familiarity with weld inspection techniques (NDT/DT), quality standards (e.g., AWS D17.1), and root cause analysis. Bonus Qualifications Experience with robot programming (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB) for automated laser welding cells. Proficiency in advanced materials (e.g., superalloys, medical-grade alloys, dissimilar metals) laser welding. Familiarity with process simulation software (e.g., SYSWELD, Abaqus) for weld distortion and stress analysis. Experience integrating vision systems or automated inspection techniques for weld quality monitoring.
