The Opportunity We are partnering with organizations in Grand Rapids that are seeking CNC Mill Programmers. Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis milling machines using CAM software. Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and workholding fixtures for various materials. Simulate machining processes to verify tool paths, prevent collisions, and ensure part accuracy. Create detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and operational instructions for machine operators. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to determine machining requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve programming or machining issues to improve efficiency and part quality. Collaborate with design engineers and machinists to refine manufacturing processes. Recommended Qualifications Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidCAM) and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Strong understanding and ability to read, write, and edit G-code and M-code. Proven experience programming 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis CNC mills. Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T. In-depth knowledge of machining processes, tooling, workholding, and material properties. Experience with process optimization, troubleshooting, and tool path simulation. Bonus Qualifications Experience with 4-axis or 5-axis programming. Proficiency in advanced CAD modeling for fixture design or part modification. Hands-on experience with CNC machine setup and operation. Familiarity with post-processor editing or development.
