Key Responsibilities Develop and write CNC programs for lathe machines using CAM software or G-code. Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and inserts for various materials and part geometries. Optimize machining parameters and tool paths to improve efficiency, cycle time, and part quality. Perform program dry runs, troubleshoot errors, and make necessary adjustments to ensure successful machining. Create and maintain comprehensive setup sheets, tooling lists, and program documentation. Collaborate with machinists and engineers to refine processes and resolve manufacturing challenges. Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to define machining strategies. Recommended Qualifications Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM) for CNC lathe programming. Expertise in G-code and M-code programming for 2-axis and multi-axis CNC lathes. Ability to interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications. Strong understanding of cutting tools, workholding, material properties, and machining parameters. Proven experience with machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC lathes. Bonus Qualifications Experience programming multi-axis or multi-spindle CNC lathes. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for fixture design or part modification. Familiarity with DNC systems and shop floor data collection (SFDC) solutions. Experience with Lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
