CNC Lathe Programmer | Lansing, MI Salary Range: $59,000 - $93,000 depending on experience Are you a seasoned professional with a passion for excelling in cnc lathe programmer? The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Lansing seeking CNC Lathe Programmers who want more than a lateral move. Key Responsibilities Develop and write CNC programs for lathe machines using CAM software and G-code. Select and specify appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and workholding devices for various materials and geometries. Optimize machining processes for efficiency, reduced cycle times, and improved tool life. Perform program simulations and verifications to ensure accuracy, prevent collisions, and validate part quality. Create and maintain detailed setup sheets, tooling lists, and program documentation. Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control to troubleshoot issues and refine manufacturing processes. Ensure all programs comply with engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. Recommended Qualifications Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit, GibbsCAM) for CNC lathe programming. Strong understanding of G-code and M-code for manual program editing and optimization. Ability to interpret engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Demonstrated knowledge of tooling selection, cutting parameters (feeds/speeds), and material science. Proven experience with CNC lathe setup, operation, and troubleshooting. Solid foundation in shop mathematics, trigonometry, and geometry. Bonus Qualifications Experience programming multi-axis lathes (e.g., Y-axis, sub-spindle, live tooling). Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling for fixture design or part modification. Demonstrated ability to optimize machining processes for cycle time reduction and efficiency. Experience with post-processor editing and customization.
