Role Overview As a Cyber Security Technical Sales Manager (Overlay Role) focused on the maritime sector, you will act as a subject matter expert, supporting account managers in driving complex cybersecurity sales engagements. You will work closely with maritime clients—including ship owners and ship management companies—to assess cybersecurity risks and design tailored solutions aligned with operational and regulatory requirements. This is a highly collaborative role, bridging technical and commercial teams, and playing a key role in both winning new business and expanding existing client relationships. Key Responsibilities Collaboration with Account Managers Partner with account managers to identify client needs and provide technical expertise throughout the sales cycle Support the development and execution of account plans with a focus on cybersecurity solutions for the maritime sector Develop and deliver tailored cybersecurity proposals in coordination with internal technical teams Technical Expertise & Solution Design Provide deep expertise across cybersecurity domains, including security assessments (e.g. GRC, penetration testing), SOC services, network security, endpoint protection, and cloud security Design integrated cybersecurity solutions combining people, process, and technology Ensure alignment with maritime regulatory requirements such as IMO 2021, NIS2, and IACS UR E26/E27 Support both IT and OT (operational technology) environments specific to maritime operations Sales Enablement & Support Equip account managers with technical insights and tools to position cybersecurity solutions effectively Support the creation of technical sales materials including presentations, case studies, and solution documentation Deliver product demonstrations, workshops, and client presentations Client Engagement & Relationship Management Act as the technical point of contact for customers throughout the sales lifecycle and beyond Build strong relationships with client stakeholders including CISOs, IT Managers, and technical teams Position yourself as a trusted advisor on cybersecurity strategy and risk mitigation Ensure solutions align with client business objectives and operational constraints Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with product, engineering, and cybersecurity teams to develop and refine solutions Coordinate with pre-sales and post-sales teams to ensure smooth implementation and delivery Engage external partners and vendors where required to meet customer needs Market Intelligence & Continuous Learning Stay up to date with evolving cybersecurity threats, regulatory developments, and industry trends Provide feedback to internal stakeholders to support product development and go-to-market strategies Reporting & Performance Tracking Provide regular updates on pipeline, solution development, and technical engagement status Track the effectiveness and performance of deployed cybersecurity solutions Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field 10+ years of experience in technical sales, cybersecurity, or solution engineering Strong experience in maritime, shipping, or critical infrastructure sectors preferred Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards (e.g. IMO 2021, ISPS, NIS2) Experience with maritime IT/OT systems and environments Proven ability to support and close complex, solution-based sales opportunities Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders Fluent in Japanese and English preferred Willingness to travel for client engagements and industry events Skills & Competencies Strong teamwork and collaboration with sales and technical teams Customer-centric mindset with strong commercial awareness Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value Strategic thinker with hands-on execution capability Strong stakeholder management across multiple levels Self-driven and comfortable operating in a matrix organisation Ability to work across cultures and time zones
