Remote | Design Critics — Up to $70/hr

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for design critics, visual culture professionals, and creative experts with strong backgrounds in visual analysis, design critique, and aesthetic reasoning. This role supports work focused on evaluating, critiquing, and shaping how advanced AI systems interpret and analyse visual design across mediums. Selected professionals will help craft and review experimental design workflows, assess visual reasoning, provide critical feedback on aesthetic interpretation, and contribute to improving how AI systems understand design, composition, and visual judgment. Key Responsibilities Professionals in this role may contribute to: Design Critique & Visual Analysis Evaluate and critique how AI systems interpret and analyse visual design across mediums Assess aesthetics, composition, visual reasoning, and design quality in structured project workflows Provide critical feedback on visual outputs, design decisions, and creative interpretation Workflow Review & Development Craft, critique, and review experimental design workflows with frontier AI models Help shape repeatable and high-quality evaluation processes for visual and design-oriented tasks Work asynchronously with a team of designers across disciplines Creative Review & Communication Apply strong written and verbal communication skills to reviews, critiques, and commentary Contribute insights grounded in design criticism, theory, visual culture, or related practice Support projects requiring clear articulation of aesthetic judgment and visual analysis Ideal Profile Strong candidates may have: 1+ years of professional experience in a visual, critique-based, or design-adjacent field Bachelor's or Master's degree in a design-related field such as Art History, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Design Theory, Architecture, Visual Culture Studies, Film and Media Studies, Illustration, Editorial Design, or Journalism with a visual or arts focus Experience writing or speaking critically about visual work through reviews, essays, critiques, studio feedback, editorial analysis, academic writing, or design commentary Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong attention to detail Current location in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Europe, Australia, or Brazil Preferred qualifications Exposure to LLMs, GenAI prompting, or vibe coding Background in theory-forward design practice, visual journalism, or design criticism Experience working across multiple visual or creative disciplines Comfort contributing to asynchronous, feedback-driven creative workflows Interest in AI systems, visual interpretation, and experimental design processes Why This Opportunity Contribute to cutting-edge work at the intersection of design, visual reasoning, and AI Help shape how advanced AI systems interpret aesthetics, composition, and visual analysis Collaborate with multidisciplinary designers in an experimental and critique-driven environment Flexible remote work with competitive compensation Contract Details Independent contractor role Fully remote with flexible scheduling Part-time commitment of approximately 10–20 hours per week Compensation range of $50–$70 per hour Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on project needs and performance Work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution Please note: We are unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates at this time Role start date expected in early March, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis About the Platform This opportunity is available through a leading AI-driven work platform that connects domain experts with frontier AI research projects.
