The Opportunity We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Grandville region seeking Laser Weld Engineers. Key Responsibilities Develop, optimize, and validate laser welding processes for new and existing products. Troubleshoot and resolve complex laser welding equipment and process issues to minimize downtime. Define and implement laser weld specifications, quality standards, and inspection methods. Select, specify, and integrate new laser welding systems, tooling, and automation solutions. Conduct root cause analysis for weld defects and implement robust corrective and preventive actions. Provide technical expertise and training to manufacturing personnel on laser welding best practices and safety. Collaborate with design engineers to ensure part weldability and manufacturability from concept to production. Recommended Qualifications Deep expertise in laser welding processes, equipment, and troubleshooting within a manufacturing setting. Proficiency in welding metallurgy, material science, and the weldability of various metal alloys. Proven experience in process development, optimization, and root cause analysis for laser weld defects and quality issues. Familiarity with metrology, destructive/non-destructive testing (NDT), and vision systems for weld quality assessment. Ability to design, develop, and optimize laser welding fixtures, tooling, and automation solutions for production. Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline. Bonus Qualifications Experience with advanced laser types (e.g., ultrafast, picosecond) or specialized applications. Proficiency in robotics and automation integration for laser welding systems. Familiarity with data analytics and machine learning for process optimization. Advanced knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methodologies specific to laser welds.
