Medical Director (Psychiatrist) – Child & Adult Behavioral Health | 1099 Contractor Location: Detroit / Wayne County, MI (Onsite Required) Job Type: Contract (1099) Salary: $90,000 – $120,000 (based on caseload) About the Role We are hiring a Medical Director / Psychiatrist to lead behavioral health services for a diverse patient population (children & adults). This is a hands-on leadership role combining psychiatric care, clinical oversight, and program development across in-person and telehealth settings . Important: This is a 1099 independent contractor position and requires on-site presence daily (non-negotiable). Key Responsibilities Perform psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and documentation Provide clinical leadership, consultation, and supervision to staff Prescribe medications and review lab results Support behavior treatment plans (BTC) and clinical decision-making Oversee quality of care, compliance, and regulatory standards Lead team meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives Assist in hiring, mentoring, and evaluating psychiatric staff Collaborate to expand telehealth and in-person services Required Qualifications MD or DO with an active Michigan medical license Board Certified Psychiatrist (Child Psychiatry required) 5+ years ' experience with children & adult populations Experience with substance abuse / dual diagnosis Knowledge of the Detroit / Wayne County CMH system Experience with EMR & telehealth platforms Skills Trauma-informed care & leadership Strong clinical judgment in complex psychiatric cases Cultural competence & ethical practice Ability to manage mild to severe behavioral health conditions Tools & Systems EMR: Peter Chang Enterprises Telehealth: Doxy.me, Zoom, Microsoft Teams
