Mental Health Consultant (LMFT / LCSW / Psychologist) Location: Sacramento Position Type: Part-Time / Consultant (1099) Schedule: Part-time / consultant style — Flexible hours Compensation Retainer-style structure combining clinical and administrative hours: Clinical Services: 20–25 hours per week @ $60–$70/hour Administrative / Oversight: 15–20 hours per week @ $30–$40/hour This position does not require full-time clinical sessions every week. The consultant provides mental health oversight, staff consultation, and clinical services as needed. Position Overview We are seeking a licensed mental health professional to provide behavioral health consulting services for a federally funded youth workforce development program serving young adults ages 16–24. The Mental Health Consultant will support students through mental health assessments, brief therapeutic services when needed, crisis consultation, and collaboration with program staff. This role is ideal for clinicians who currently work in a private practice, behavioral health clinic, or community mental health setting and are open to taking on additional part-time consulting hours. The primary clients served will be students enrolled in the program, not external clinic patients. Key Responsibilities Conduct mental health assessments for referred students Provide individual therapy sessions when clinically indicated Provide crisis intervention and consultation to program staff Participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary meetings Provide clinical consultation and behavioral health guidance to staff Ensure appropriate clinical documentation and compliance Support behavioral health programming and student wellness initiatives Minimum Qualifications License Requirement: Active California LMFT, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist (PhD/PsyD). Experience working with adolescents or young adults (ages 16–24) Experience conducting behavioral health assessments and therapy Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Preferred Qualifications Experience in youth residential programs, schools, or workforce development settings Experience providing clinical consultation to non-clinical staff Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices Work Structure This position operates under a consultant / retainer model, which includes: Clinical service hours Administrative availability and oversight Collaboration with program leadership and student services staff This opportunity is ideal for licensed clinicians seeking flexible consulting work supporting youth and young adults in a structured career training environment.
