Key Responsibilities Develop, validate, and optimize CMM inspection programs from 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings. Interpret complex GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications for accurate measurement planning. Perform first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final product validations using CMMs. Troubleshoot and resolve CMM program errors, measurement discrepancies, and equipment issues. Generate detailed inspection reports, including statistical analysis and deviation summaries. Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to define measurement strategies and fixture requirements. Maintain and calibrate CMM equipment, ensuring measurement accuracy and system reliability. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection processes and measurement methodologies. Recommended Qualifications Proficiency in CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS). Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and application. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints and specifications. Hands-on experience with CMM operation, part setup, and troubleshooting. Strong understanding of metrology fundamentals and measurement best practices. Bonus Qualifications Proficiency with advanced CAD software for model manipulation and analysis (e.g., Catia, SolidWorks, NX). Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis for quality improvement. Knowledge of other metrology equipment such as vision systems, laser scanners, or optical comparators. Ability to design and/or fabricate custom fixtures for part inspection.
