The Opportunity We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Whitehall that are seeking skilled Design Engineers. Key Responsibilities Design and develop new products or improve existing ones, considering manufacturing constraints. Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings. Conduct design analysis, simulations, and calculations to ensure performance and reliability. Specify appropriate materials, components, and manufacturing processes for designs. Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to optimize designs for production. Develop and manage Bills of of Material (BOMs) and engineering change orders (ECOs). Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities to verify design specifications. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD) for 3D modeling and 2D drafting. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication) and material selection. Demonstrated experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles. Ability to apply GD&T principles and interpret complex engineering drawings. Experience in prototyping, testing, and iterating designs based on performance data. Bonus Qualifications Experience with specific manufacturing processes beyond basic machining (e.g., injection molding, additive manufacturing, advanced composites). Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies. Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, or assembly of physical products. Proficiency in advanced simulation tools (e.g., FEA, CFD) for complex analysis.
