The Opportunity We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Otsego region seeking Design Engineers. Key Responsibilities Design and develop new products, components, or systems from concept to production, adhering to specifications and industry standards. Utilize CAD software to create detailed 2D and 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings. Conduct engineering analysis, including FEA, stress calculations, and tolerance stack-ups, to ensure design integrity and performance. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and assembly efficiency. Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on design requirements, cost, and performance criteria. Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities, analyzing results and implementing design improvements. Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including Bills of of Material (BOMs) and engineering change orders (ECOs). Investigate and resolve design-related issues, implementing corrective actions and contributing to continuous product improvement. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related engineering field. Proven proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for 3D modeling and technical drafting. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM). Knowledge of material properties and selection for optimal product performance and cost-effectiveness. Experience with prototyping, testing, and design validation in a production environment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex design challenges. Bonus Qualifications Proficiency with advanced simulation software (e.g., FEA, CFD) for design validation. Hands-on experience with prototyping, fabrication, or assembly processes. Familiarity with PLM/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Windchill) for design data management. Certification or proven experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
