Country Manager (Payment technology)

About the Client Our client is a well-established international payments and acquiring provider serving merchants across Europe and global markets. Operating as a licensed financial institution within the EU and the UK, the company offers end-to-end infrastructure that enables online businesses to accept, process, and manage card and alternative payments securely and at scale. The platform covers payment acquiring, issuer processing, BIN sponsorship, white-label card programs, fraud prevention, and advanced data tools, allowing partners to build compliant and flexible payment ecosystems. With a strong technological foundation and years of market presence, the company supports fintechs, PSPs, and digital merchants that require reliability, regulatory alignment, and room to grow. Role Overview As a Country Manager, you will be responsible for expanding the partner ecosystem in new regions, developing trusted relationships with key industry stakeholders, and driving the commercial adoption of the company’s payment technology infrastructure. This is not a general acquiring sales role — the ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of card infrastructure, banking IT systems, and processing center architecture, including how decisions are made within these institutions. The role requires someone who has experience attracting banks and financial institutions and understands how to structure and close complex, long-cycle enterprise sales within the payments space. Responsibilities Develop and expand partnerships with banks, fintechs, and technology providers Build and nurture relationships with C-level stakeholders (CTO, COO, Heads of Card Departments, etc.) Lead strategic, long-term sales cycles (6–12 up to 24 months) with financial institutions Present and position card infrastructure, processing capabilities, and technical solutions in a consultative manner Engage with international payment systems, maintain active communication, and obtain referrals/recommendations Develop trust-based relationships with key industry players across new markets Understand anti-fraud systems and be able to discuss risk management frameworks at a strategic level Act as a business advisor who understands how IT systems interact within banking and processing environments Requirements Proven experience in building strategic partnerships or managing enterprise sales within card acquiring, issuer processing, or banking IT infrastructure. An established network of CTOs, CEOs, and Heads of Cards is essential Strong background in card acquiring, issuer processing, or card infrastructure Understanding of banking IT systems, processing platforms, and transaction flows Experience selling to banks, EMIs, fintechs, or financial institutions Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales cycles Experience working with European or international licensed financial structures is a strong plus Ability to communicate confidently with technical and executive stakeholders Analytical mindset with business analysis capabilities Strong understanding of how IT systems integrate and interact across payment infrastructures What We Offer Competitive fixed compensation aligned with the strategic impact of the role Performance-driven bonus and commission structure directly tied to revenue growth and partnership expansion Full ownership over regional development and go-to-market execution High-visibility role with direct interaction with senior leadership and key industry stakeholders Opportunity to shape and scale the company’s partner ecosystem in new markets
