On site | Software Engineer III (XR / OpenXR) (Washington) — Up to $105/hr

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer III to join an onsite engineering team in Redmond, Washington , focused on building and maintaining OpenXR-based extended reality (XR) applications . In this role, you will collaborate with engineers, product teams, and UX partners to prototype, implement, and optimize immersive experiences across OpenXR-compatible devices and runtimes . Key Responsibilities Develop XR applications using OpenXR architecture and runtime frameworks Build interactive features including: Controller and hand input systems Action sets and haptics 3D UI and spatial interaction systems Implement interaction mechanics such as grabbing systems, ray interactions, and spatial UI Optimize rendering and performance for low-latency XR environments Integrate runtime capabilities including tracking spaces and advanced OpenXR extensions Write clean, testable code and contribute to build and CI workflows Debug graphics, tracking, and input-related issues across XR devices Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document design decisions and technical tradeoffs Ideal Profile Strong candidates may have: 3+ years of professional software engineering experience Experience building real-time 3D applications such as XR, games, simulations, or visualization systems Practical experience with OpenXR concepts including sessions, swapchains, spaces, and action systems Strong programming skills in C/C++ and/or C# Experience with real-time engines or frameworks such as: Unity (C#) with OpenXR plugins Unreal Engine XR pipelines Native OpenXR rendering using Vulkan, OpenGL, or DirectX Strong debugging and performance optimization skills Preferred qualifications: Experience shipping OpenXR-based applications to production Familiarity with OpenXR extensions such as hand tracking, eye gaze tracking, or foveated rendering Graphics experience using Vulkan, OpenGL, or DirectX Familiarity with profiling tools such as RenderDoc or engine profilers Android XR development experience including NDK, JNI, or Gradle workflows Why This Opportunity Work on next-generation XR wearable technologies Build immersive experiences for OpenXR-capable platforms Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a cutting-edge XR environment Competitive hourly compensation with enterprise-level engineering exposure Contract Details Full-time structured engineering role Onsite position in Redmond, Washington (USA) Compensation: $75–$105 per hour Employment administered through Cincinnatus (Employer of Record) Weekly payroll and enterprise benefits handled by Cincinnatus Location Requirement Candidates must be based in the United States and able to work onsite in Redmond, WA .
