Principal Java Backend Developer

About the Role We’re looking for a Principal Java Backend Developer to join a team building large-scale connectivity solutions for the automotive industry. You will work in a DevOps environment developing backend systems that support connected platforms and large-scale distributed services. In this role, you will design and develop scalable backend systems, contribute to architecture decisions, and ensure the reliability and performance of cloud-based platforms. You will collaborate closely with engineers across product, platform, and infrastructure teams in a global environment. Fluency in Swedish is required for this role, as you will work closely with Swedish-speaking teams and stakeholders. What You’ll Do • Design and develop scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot • Build and maintain cloud-native microservices architectures • Develop APIs and backend services supporting connected platforms and distributed systems • Deploy and manage services in AWS environments, including serverless components • Work with message-based and event-driven architectures using technologies such as JMS or similar tools • Ensure code quality through code reviews, test-driven development, and automated testing • Collaborate with cross-functional DevOps teams working in Agile/Scrum environments • Contribute to architecture decisions, scalability design, and load testing strategies • Improve reliability, performance, and observability of backend systems • Support CI/CD pipelines and container-based deployments What We’re Looking For • 10+ years of experience in Java backend development • Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful services • Experience building distributed systems and microservices architectures • Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native platforms • Solid experience working with Linux/Unix environments • Experience with relational databases and backend data modeling • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices • Strong understanding of scalability, performance, and system reliability • Experience working in Agile development environments • Comfortable collaborating in global engineering teams • Fluent in Swedish and English Nice to Have • Experience with Docker and containerized environments • Experience with serverless development and AWS services • Familiarity with load testing and performance optimization • Experience with CI/CD tools, CDK, or Code Pipelines • Knowledge of large-scale agile frameworks Why Yora Yora is built on freedom, trust, and technical excellence.
