The Role This position focuses entirely on out-of-hours emergency and critical care cases , working as the sole-charge vet during the night shift . You will be responsible for the management of emergency presentations, stabilisation of critical patients, and performing urgent surgical procedures when required. The role offers a varied and interesting caseload , with approximately: 60% medical cases 40% surgical cases You will benefit from a high level of clinical autonomy , making this a very rewarding role for veterinarians who enjoy decision-making and developing their emergency medicine skills. Working Schedule Night shifts: 8:00 pm – 8:00 am (12-hour shifts) Rota: 5 nights on / 10 nights off (rolling rota) This schedule provides an excellent work-life balance with extended periods of time off between rotations . Candidate Profile We are looking for a veterinarian who is comfortable working independently and managing emergency cases. The ideal candidate will have: Confidence working sole charge during night shifts Solid surgical skills and ability to manage urgent procedures Strong knowledge of small animal medicine and emergency care A calm, proactive approach in high-pressure situations Previous hospital or ECC experience is desirable but not essential for the right candidate with good clinical foundations.
