Head of Finance – (iGaming & Sports Betting)

A rapidly expanding iGaming and Sports Betting operator is seeking a commercially driven Head of Finance to lead financial strategy, governance, and operational finance across its growing African business. The Opportunity As Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the full finance function — from strategic planning and reporting to compliance, treasury, and audit leadership — ensuring financial operations remain accurate, transparent, and aligned with the organisations aggressive growth trajectory. Your Key Job Responsibilities as Head of Finance will include: Financial Leadership & Strategy Lead all finance functions including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and financial operations Drive financial planning processes and provide strategic commercial analysis to support executive decision-making Partner with leadership to align financial strategy with business growth objectives Reporting, Compliance & Governance Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and South African statutory requirements Ensure full compliance with tax regulations, statutory obligations, and gaming regulatory requirements Implement and maintain robust internal control frameworks and financial governance structures Operational Finance & Performance Oversee country-level finance teams to ensure consistent reporting standards and local regulatory compliance Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity planning to support operational scalability Monitor financial performance against budgets and profitability targets, providing actionable insights Audit, Risk & External Engagement Lead internal and external audit processes and drive timely resolution of audit findings Serve as the primary liaison with auditors, financial institutions, regulators, and external advisors Maintain strong financial risk management practices across all operational markets Leadership & Team Development Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance team based in Cape Town Establish performance standards, mentoring structures, and continuous capability development Present financial performance updates, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and executives Success Measures Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and statutory submissions Compliance with all tax, regulatory, and audit requirements Delivery against budget, profitability, and financial performance targets Strength and effectiveness of internal control frameworks Optimised cash flow and working capital management Requirements for this Head of Finance role: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field CA(SA) or equivalent professional qualification preferred Minimum 7+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership responsibility Experience within iGaming, fintech, payments, or other regulated industries is highly advantageous Strong knowledge of IFRS, South African tax legislation, and statutory regulatory frameworks Experience working with ERP systems and advanced financial reporting platforms Core Competencies Strategic, commercially focused mindset with strong business partnering capability Proven leadership ability managing and scaling finance teams Advanced analytical, financial modelling, and problem-solving skills Exceptional attention to detail, integrity, and governance discipline Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders Ability to operate effectively in a high-growth, fast-moving environment Why Join This role offers the opportunity to shape the financial backbone of a high-growth iGaming business expanding across Africa.
