Senior Payroll Specialist

Location: Hermon, Winelands, Western Cape Salary: Up to R50,000 – R60,000 per month (depending on experience) Own vehicle required Industry: HR / Finance Role Overview An established organisation based in the Hermon, Winelands, Western Cape is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to take full ownership of payroll operations. This is a hands-on, on-site role suited to an experienced payroll professional who can manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensure statutory compliance, and act as the payroll subject matter expert within the business. Key Responsibilities Full end-to-end payroll processing (monthly and/or weekly payrolls) Accurate calculation of salaries, overtime, commissions, deductions, and benefits Management of PAYE, UIF, SDL, EMP201, EMP501, IRP5 submissions Ensure compliance with all South African payroll legislation and SARS requirements Manage time & attendance integration and payroll reconciliations Process new hires, terminations, promotions, and payroll adjustments Handle garnishees, provident fund, medical aid, and other third-party payments Conduct monthly payroll reconciliations and variance analysis Prepare year-end payroll reconciliations and tax submissions Manage payroll audits and respond to internal/external audit queries Maintain strict confidentiality and payroll data integrity Provide payroll reporting to Finance and Management Minimum Requirements 5+ years solid payroll experience (senior-level exposure required) Proven experience with full payroll ownership Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation and tax compliance Experience with payroll systems such as Sage VIP, Sage 300, Pastel, PaySpace, SAP or similar Strong reconciliation and reporting skills High attention to detail and numerical accuracy Ability to work independently and manage deadlines Essential Requirements Must have own reliable vehicle Must reside in or near Hermon, Winelands, Western Cape Candidates commuting from Cape Town must be within reasonable driving distance and willing to travel daily Ideal Candidate Profile Mature, professional, and highly discreet Strong problem-solving ability Comfortable working in a smaller town / close-knit business environment Able to operate independently without constant supervision
