Our client, a well-established independent day school in Southend-on-Sea, is seeking a professional, discreet and highly organised HR Assistant to join their administrative team ASAP . This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to support the school’s HR function within a collaborative and values-driven environment. • HR Assistant required – full-time, permanent • Prestigious Independent School in Southend-on-Sea • ASAP start • Competitive salary and staff benefits The successful HR Assistant will support the delivery of an efficient and compliant HR service across the school. You will assist with recruitment administration, staff onboarding, safeguarding checks, contract preparation and maintaining accurate personnel records. This role requires a high level of confidentiality, attention to detail and professionalism. You will liaise closely with senior leaders, line managers and external agencies to ensure that HR processes run smoothly and align with statutory requirements and best practice. Key Responsibilities • Supporting recruitment processes, including advertising and shortlisting administration • Coordinating safer recruitment and pre-employment checks • Maintaining and updating staff records and HR systems • Assisting with payroll preparation and absence monitoring • Providing general HR administrative support Experience and Qualifications • Previous experience in HR or school administration desirable • Strong organisational and IT skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures • CIPD qualification (or working towards) advantageous About the School This independent school prides itself on maintaining high professional standards within a supportive and inclusive community.
