Year 1 Teacher – Wimbledon

We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Wimbledon, starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified teacher to inspire and support pupils at the start of Key Stage 1. The school has a strong inclusive ethos, high expectations for learning, and a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. Staff work collaboratively to deliver high-quality teaching, with senior leadership providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. As a Year 1 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing the full curriculum for Key Stage 1 pupils. You will create an engaging learning environment, promote positive behaviour, and support children’s academic and personal development. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the Year 1 curriculum Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback and support Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN Promote positive behaviour, independence, and resilience Support social, emotional, and personal development of pupils Maintain a safe and stimulating classroom environment Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and leadership Contribute to school events, trips, and extra-curricular activities Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and resources Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1, preferably Year 1 Be passionate about teaching, creative, and engaging Have excellent classroom management and organisational skills Be able to differentiate learning for all pupils, including those with SEN Have strong communication and teamwork skills Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing The school is located in Wimbledon, with excellent transport links and a supportive, diverse community.
