Senior AS400 iSeries COBOL Developer

Our client is seeking a Senior AS400/iSeries COBOL Developer to support and enhance mission‑critical mid‑range applications. This role requires deep hands‑on experience with COBOL/400, ILE, CLLE, SQL, and DB2400, along with strong knowledge of ACMS/MOM. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working in complex legacy environments and can lead development efforts in an onshore/offshore model. No Visa Sponsorship | No Relocation Assistance Contract Duration: 6 months | W2 Location: Onsite (Only local candidates will be considered) Requirements: Lead and mentor team members in an onshore/offshore delivery model. Optimize and fine‑tune existing applications for performance and reliability. Support the development of technical roadmaps and modernization initiatives. Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement. Coordinate with stakeholders for requirement clarification and solution discussions. Analyze functional and technical requirements and translate them into robust solutions. Perform hands‑on development using COBOL/400, COBOL ILE, CLLE, SQL, and related AS400/iSeries technologies. Collaborate with business and technical teams to refine requirements and propose solutions. Qualifications/Must-Haves: Experience working with ACMS/MOM. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Experience working in enterprise‑scale environments. 10+ years of hands‑on development experience with AS400/iSeries. Strong proficiency in: COBOL/400, COBOL ILE, CLLE, SQL, DB2400. Ability to lead development efforts and guide junior team members. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. Preferred Skills: Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies. Background in large enterprise IT environments. Experience leading teams in an onshore/offshore model. Work Environment: Full onsite schedule in Schaumburg, IL. Collaborative team environment with continuous integration and improvement focus.
