Year 5 Teacher – Reading

We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and enthusiastic Year 5 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Reading, starting ASAP. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified teacher to inspire upper Key Stage 2 pupils and support their academic and personal growth. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a nurturing environment where pupils are encouraged to thrive. Staff work collaboratively, sharing best practice, and are supported by senior leadership to deliver high-quality teaching. As a Year 5 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across the curriculum. You will create a stimulating classroom environment, promote positive behaviour, and support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the Year 5 curriculum Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress, providing targeted support where needed Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN Promote positive behaviour, independence, and resilience Support pupils’ social, emotional, and personal development Maintain a safe, organised, and stimulating classroom environment Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and school leadership Contribute to school events, trips, and enrichment activities Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, resources, and assessment strategies Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) Have experience teaching upper Key Stage 2, preferably Year 5 Be passionate, creative, and committed to high-quality teaching Have excellent classroom management and organisational skills Be able to differentiate learning for pupils of varying abilities Have strong communication and teamwork skills Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing The school is located in Reading, with excellent transport links and a supportive, diverse community.
