About you 👤 Educated to degree level; an advanced degree is preferred. Experience in European pharmaceutical business development with an international remit; pan‑European exposure strongly preferred. A proactive, highly autonomous self‑starter who can drive work forward independently. Demonstrated track record of leading licensing transactions, supported by a clear, deal‑focused transaction sheet. Strong understanding of EU pharmaceutical licensing frameworks, regulatory pathways, and commercial drivers across major European markets. Strong financial acumen, including valuation, forecasting, and business‑case development. Proven negotiation skills with a history of successfully concluding multiple deals. Ability to influence, collaborate, and build strong relationships across all levels in a matrix organisation, with familiarity across pricing & market access, regulatory, legal, logistics, sales & marketing, and quality. High proficiency with IQVIA and other industry data or research platforms. Excellent organisational, communication, influencing, and project management capabilities. Able to work independently while delivering high‑quality outputs to the CCDO and effectively leading or coordinating cross‑functional teams. Collaborative mindset with flexibility to support wider team needs. Strong ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity simultaneously. Adaptable, quick learner with a positive “can‑do” attitude. Willingness and ability to travel extensively when required (up to ~30–40% during conference periods). About the role 🧭 The Director of Business Development & In‑Licensing will lead Theramex’s inorganic growth by sourcing, evaluating, and securing high‑value licensing opportunities across international markets. Combining strategic assessment with hands‑on dealmaking, the role works closely with internal experts and external partners to expand our portfolio and drive innovation in Women’s Health. You’ll leverage strong scientific and commercial insight to build compelling business cases, shape Board‑level decision‑making, and support wider corporate development priorities. Central to Theramex’s continued growth, this position plays a pivotal role in securing in‑licensing opportunities that fuel our fast‑growing business—an essential strategic priority for our investors, Carlyle and PAI. Key Duties and Responsibilities 📌 Work closely with the Chief Corporate Development Officer (CCDO), a member of the Executive Leadership Team, to review, assess, and acquire new inorganic growth opportunities for Board consideration. Identify and evaluate relevant inorganic opportunities by analysing the competitive landscape, assessing macroeconomic trends, leveraging IQVIA and other industry data, building business cases, performing valuations, and preparing materials for Board decisions. Source, triage, and prioritise target opportunities, clearly articulating the strategic and industrial rationale to key stakeholders. Build strong relationships with KOLs to assess unmet needs and, with Medical, support Advisory Boards that generate potential leads for evaluation. Negotiate new product‑licensing opportunities aligned with the company’s geographic and therapeutic expansion strategy. Lead and support licensing negotiations alongside the CCDO, contributing to deal structuring and settlement. Collaborate effectively with senior executives, including ELT members, key Theramex employees, investor representatives, Board members, and external advisors or consultants. Work cross‑functionally to evaluate expansion opportunities across the existing portfolio (e.g., optimisation initiatives). Support M&A or product acquisition activities as required.
