Job Title: Direct Care Staff Location: Bakersfield, CA 93306 Employment Type: Full-Time/Temp-to-Hire Pay: $18 -$19 per hour (DOE) "Night Shift" Position Overview Legacy Staffing is seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Care Staff on behalf of our client, a residential program serving individuals with mental health conditions. This role is essential for providing care, supervision, and support to residents, helping them develop life skills and maintain a safe, structured environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with mentally ill populations and a strong commitment to client well-being. Key Responsibilities Care & Supervision: Provide on-site monitoring and assistance to residents Support individualized service plans and daily schedules Supervise medication administration per physician instructions Conduct room checks and light housekeeping Ensure compliance with house rules and provide crisis intervention when needed Group Activities: Assist with organizing and supervising recreational, social, and cultural activities Instruction: Model and teach daily living skills such as personal care, budgeting, shopping, and maintaining an orderly home environment Transportation: Provide transportation for group outings Meetings & Reporting: Participate in staff meetings and training sessions Maintain client confidentiality and report unusual situations promptly Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent Two years of experience providing services to mentally ill or similar populations preferred Valid California drivers license, reliable vehicle, and clean driving record Ability to pass health screening, TB test, and criminal background check including a Live Scan Strong communication skills and personal qualities of warmth, responsibility, and respect ASL proficiency preferred but not required Shifts Available Night Shift: 11:30 PM – 7:30 AM ($18-$19) If you are passionate about supporting individuals with mental health needs and creating a positive environment, we encourage you to apply.
