Premises Officer – Woolwich

We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and proactive Premises Officer to join a busy and welcoming primary school in Woolwich , starting as soon as possible . This is a key role responsible for maintaining the school buildings, grounds, and facilities, ensuring a safe, secure, and well-functioning environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. The school has a strong ethos of inclusion, high expectations, and pupil wellbeing. The Premises Officer is essential to the smooth running of the school, overseeing maintenance, health and safety compliance, and supporting daily operations. Senior leadership values this role highly and provides guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. As a Premises Officer, you will maintain the school site, carry out minor repairs, liaise with contractors, and support events and school activities. Your work ensures the school environment remains safe, welcoming, and fully operational. Key Responsibilities Maintain and manage school buildings, grounds, and facilities Monitor health, safety, and security across the school site Respond promptly to maintenance issues and coordinate external contractors when needed Assist with the setup and takedown of school events, activities, and functions Conduct regular inspections of the site and ensure compliance with regulations Ensure tools, equipment, and machinery are used safely and maintained properly Support staff and pupils with site-related queries and issues Follow safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have experience in premises management, facilities, or maintenance work Be practical, hands-on, and proactive in resolving issues Have a good understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures Be reliable, organised, and able to prioritise tasks effectively Possess strong communication and teamwork skills Be committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing The school is located in Woolwich , with excellent transport links and a supportive local community.
