Software Test Engineer (Embedded / Firmware) - Johannesburg R75,000-R80,000 CTC This role is ideal for someone hands-on in both manual and automated testing, with a strong quality mindset and the ability to collaborate closely with development teams. Key Responsibilities Design, execute, and manage manual and automated test cases Test and debug software and firmware against specifications Collaborate with developers throughout the SDLC to identify defects early Analyse test results, document findings, and report on software quality Support continuous improvement in testing processes and automation Requirements BEng or BTech in Electronics (or equivalent) 5–10 years of experience in software testing or development (embedded/firmware preferred) Strong understanding of QA principles, testing methodologies, and development lifecycles Experience with test documentation, planning, and execution ISTQB certification advantageous Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally Attributes Detail-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated Able to manage multiple testing activities simultaneously Comfortable mentoring and sharing technical knowledge
