Working Shop Foreman / Diesel Service Technician – Waterloo, IA Location: Waterloo, IA | Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Day Shift, No Weekends About the Role: Join a well-established construction equipment service operation as a Working Shop Foreman . This hands-on leadership role is perfect for an experienced mechanic ready to lead a team while staying actively involved in diesel, hydraulic, and small engine repairs . Key Responsibilities: Lead, mentor, and supervise shop mechanics Perform diesel, hydraulic, and small engine repairs on construction equipment Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems Maintain accurate service records, timesheets, and documentation Ensure safety compliance and quality workmanship Operate equipment for diagnostics and repairs Qualifications: 5+ years of experience repairing construction equipment and small-engine machinery (generators, concrete saws, pumps, compactors, light towers, mixers) Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems Experience reading and using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools Prior foreman or supervisory experience preferred Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and operate construction equipment Team-oriented with strong communication and leadership skills Proficiency in service management and inventory systems (Texada, ServiceMax, RepairDesk) Training & Growth: Paid in-house and manufacturer technical training Opportunities for skill and leadership advancement Compensation & Benefits: Competitive wages Full benefits package: health, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance 401(k) retirement plan Paid vacation, sick leave, and 6 holidays Uniforms provided Why Join Us: Hands-on role with leadership responsibilities Work on a wide variety of construction equipment Stable, long-term day-shift position Strong focus on safety and professional development
