We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our thriving Design and Technology department in a prestigious independent day school for boys in Westminster. About the School: Our school is a leading independent day school for boys, renowned for its academic excellence, strong pastoral care, and commitment to developing well-rounded individuals. About the Design and Technology Department: The Design and Technology department is a dynamic and collaborative team with a shared passion for bringing design and making to life for our students. We offer a rigorous and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of materials and processes, from traditional woodworking and metalworking to modern technologies like CAD/CAM. About the Role: Teach Resistant Materials across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at GCSE and A Level depending on experience and interest. Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities. Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including demonstrations, practical projects, and computer-aided design, to bring Resistant Materials to life for students. Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys. Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Resistant Materials curriculum remains relevant and challenging. Foster a love of design and making in students, encouraging them to develop their creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Design and Technology education. Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, such as design clubs and competitions. Ideal Candidate: Holds QTS or equivalent. Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Resistant Materials. Demonstrates a passion for teaching Design and Technology and a commitment to student success. Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills. Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment. Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Design and Technology and relevant examination specifications. Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
