Unix Systems Administrator

Core Functions: The incumbent will be responsible for delivering exceptional UNIX System Management & Maintenance through strategic installation, configuration, and proactive system upgrades. These comprehensive activities ensure the organization's capability to deliver premium services to clients by maintaining robust, highly available systems and optimizing application performance across all server environments. He/She will also implements and maintains meticulous documentation systems for asset inventory and configuration management. Establishes server hardening protocols that exceed industry standards and meet rigorous audit requirements. Creates detailed records of all system modifications and configurations to ensure transparency and compliance. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field 5+ years experience administering AIX and Linux systems Strong knowledge of shell scripting (Bash, Korn) Experience with virtualization technologies Proficiency in system performance monitoring and tuning Understanding of networking protocols and security concepts Specialized Skills, Techniques/Learned Disciplines: Strong knowledge of the intricacies of the Unix operating systems and its functionality in a client/server environment DevOps fundamentals in ensuring automated processes are maintained optimally Ability to effectively assess, prioritize and execute tasks in a customer-centric always available environment Effective problem resolution and analytical skills Sound human relations and customer service skills Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Ability function in a face-paced demanding agile environment In-depth ability to function in an environment without constant supervision and sequential task list Special Conditions Associated With the Job: Normal office environment Frequent work outside of normal business hours on weekends and holidays Provide valuable information in maintaining pace with global trends in operations and vulnerability assessment and protection methods.
