SENCo Opportunity | Full-time, temp to perm | Primary School in Barnet

A welcoming and forward-thinking two-form entry primary school in Barnet is seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to join their team from January 2026 . This is a full-time position , initially offered until July 2026 , with the strong intention to go permanent from September 2026 . The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping high-quality SEND provision across the school, ensuring every pupil with additional needs receives the support and opportunities they deserve. This role includes a maximum of one hour of teaching per day , allowing the SENCO to focus primarily on strategic leadership, provision mapping, supporting staff, and working closely with families and external professionals to drive inclusive practice. Key Responsibilities - Lead the strategic development of SEND provision across the school. -Oversee identification, assessment, and support of pupils with SEND, ensuring high-impact interventions. - Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and leadership to embed inclusive practice. - Liaise effectively with external agencies, services, and specialists. - Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including EHCP reviews and SEN registers. - Provide guidance, training, and coaching for staff to enhance SEND provision. - Build strong, supportive relationships with parents and carers. - Teach for no more than one hour per day as required. Candidate Requirements - National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete). - Proven experience as a SENCO or in a senior SEND role. - Strong understanding of SEND legislation, EHCP processes, and inclusive classroom practice. - Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills. - Reflective, proactive, and committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for all learners.
