Project Business Manager - EPC(Oil & Gas), Egypt

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Business Manager with a strong background in the Oil & Gas sector and proven expertise in EPC project execution. Note: ONLY Egyptian nationals will be considered. Location: Cairo, Egypt (rotational as-needed to project locations in MENA region) Position Overview: The Project Business Manager (PBM) is responsible for managing the commercial, financial, and administrative aspects of EPC project execution. The PBM serves as the business focal point for the project — integrating cost control, schedule development, earned value management, contracts, procurement, finance, risk, and reporting functions to ensure commercial success, compliance, and profitability throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Lead the development and maintenance of the project budget, forecast, and cost control system, ensuring alignment with EPC contract requirements. Manage the project financial model, including cash flow forecasting, revenue recognition, and margin tracking. Monitor and analyze project cost and schedule performance, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare and present monthly cost reports, variance analyses, and management dashboards. Support preparation of quarterly forecasts and project financial reviews with corporate finance. Manage invoice approvals, billing milestones, and payment certificates in accordance with contractual terms. Ensure compliance with IFRS, internal accounting procedures, and audit requirements. Support in interpreting and implementing the EPC contract, ensuring compliance with all commercial terms. Manage change orders, claims, and variation requests, including cost and schedule impact assessments. Coordinate with legal and contracts teams to ensure risk mitigation and contract governance. Administer subcontracts and supplier agreements, including approval of payment milestones, retention, and performance bonds. Ensure that all commercial documentation such as insurance, guarantees, and letters of credit are properly managed and up to date. Track and report on contractual obligations, deliverables, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Oversee and coordinate cost control, planning/scheduling, and document control teams to ensure integrated project reporting. Implement and maintain robust project control systems for tracking cost, progress, and productivity. Support risk management activities by monitoring cost and schedule risks, developing mitigation plans, and updating project risk registers. Validate and reconcile earned value (EV) metrics against progress and cost baselines. Contribute to project review meetings, audits, and performance assessments. Collaborate with procurement teams to monitor purchase order commitments, supplier invoices, and expediting. Ensure alignment between procurement deliverables and project cost forecasts. Support vendor performance evaluations and cost optimization initiatives. Verify procurement reporting, ensuring visibility of all commitments and variations. Serve as the financial and commercial advisor to the Director EPC Projects and leadership team. Lead or contribute to business risk assessments, internal audits, and compliance reviews. Mentor and guide project controls and finance staff assigned to the project. Ensure full compliance with corporate governance, ethics, and anti-bribery policies. Contribute to lessons learned and best practice sharing across the EPC business. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent. Minimum 8 years of proven experience in project management or commercial management roles within EPC, oil & gas, power, or large-scale infrastructure projects. Strong track record of delivering large-scale EPC projects within the O&G industry. Previous interaction/experience with Aramco is a plus. Strong commercial and financial management skills with experience managing multi-million-dollar projects. Proficiency in cost control systems and ERP tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Primavera Cost, or EcoSys). Solid understanding of project accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP) and earned value management (EVM). Hands on experience with Primervera6 preferred. Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting for multi-million-dollar EPC projects. Excellent analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills. Advanced Excel and Power BI or dashboard reporting capability. Strong commercial acumen and ability to identify risks and opportunities Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Strategic thinker with hands-on execution capability. Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary, multicultural project environments. High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail. Strong leadership and team coordination across functions.
