SENIOR PUBLIC SECTOR WEB DEVELOPER

(Full-time, Remote with Government Clearance Requirements) Position Overview We're seeking a Senior Web Developer with extensive experience building and maintaining websites for government agencies, municipalities, and educational institutions. This role requires deep knowledge of public sector compliance, accessibility standards, and security protocols. You'll lead our efforts to deliver compliant, secure, and user-friendly digital solutions for our government clients. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain responsive websites and applications for city, county, and state government clients Ensure strict compliance with ADA/WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards Implement security protocols meeting NIST 800-53, CJIS, and FedRAMP requirements Integrate government systems (payment gateways, GIS, CRM/311 systems, legacy databases) Lead accessibility audits and remediation efforts Collaborate with government stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical solutions Mentor junior developers on public sector compliance requirements Document all development processes for public records compliance Required Qualifications 5+ years experience developing websites for government or educational institutions Proven portfolio of live government/municipal/university websites Expert knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 compliance Experience with government-specific CMS platforms (Drupal, WordPress with government modules) Strong understanding of public records laws and data retention requirements Experience with U.S.-based cloud hosting (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) Knowledge of security frameworks: NIST, CJIS, HIPAA (as applicable) Experience with government procurement processes and documentation Must pass government background check (some positions may require clearance) Preferred Qualifications Experience with SAM.gov , UEI systems, and government vendor portals Knowledge of specific state/local government requirements (e.g., Florida Sunshine Law, California PRA) Certification in accessibility (CPACC, WAS) Experience with government payment processing systems Previous work with GIS integration for government sites Understanding of ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) reporting requirements Technical Requirements Proficiency in: Drupal/WordPress, PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 Experience with: REST APIs, SAML/SSO for government authentication Knowledge of: U.S. Section 508, ITAR, EAR regulations Tools: JIRA/Confluence, Git, automated testing for accessibility Compensation & Benefits Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 (based on experience and clearance level) Government contract-based bonuses Comprehensive benefits including government holidays Remote work with occasional on-site client meetings Professional development for government certifications
