Remote Portuguese Language Engineer in Portugal

Work Location : Portugal (Remote/Work from home) Engagement Model : Fixed-term employment contract; Full-time Language Needed : Portuguese Estimated Start Date : February 2026 Engagement Duration : 12 months DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking a Language Engineer with idiomatic fluency in Portuguese to join our team in Portugal, working remotely on data curation and evaluation. Role Summary As a Language Engineer, you will leverage your native-level Portuguese skills and linguistic expertise to evaluate data, review speech model outputs and annotate audio data. Role Responsibilities: Curate, evaluate, and annotate linguistic and audio data to ensure high standards of quality, relevance, and consistency Evaluate outputs from speech models Run scripts via command line; potentially also write scripts or evaluate code Proofread (e.g. audio scripts) and proof-listen audio data (e.g. recorded speech) for accuracy, pronunciation, and expressiveness Provide feedback and insights based on data analysis Participate in test evaluations and problem-solving discussions Evaluate outputs from speech models Role Requirements: Idiomatic fluency in Portuguese Bachelor's degree or higher in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics , or a related field Knowledge of phonetics/phonology Strong analytical skills and the ability to draw conclusions from complex datasets Previous experience in similar tasks (data curation, evaluation, or linguistic analysis) preferred Comfortable working with basic command line tools to run pre-written scripts; experience with Python preferred Strong understanding of core linguistic concepts, including syntax, semantics, and morphology Proficiency in an additional language (such as Italian, French, etc.) is a plus Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently Excellent written and verbal communication skills DataForce by TransPerfect is part of the TransPerfect family of companies, the world’s largest provider of language and technology solutions for global business, with offices in more than 100 cities worldwide.
