Job Summary:
Under general supervision, you will administer and implement comprehensive Environmental Protection (EP) programs for assigned facility(s). Serving as the primary Facility EP contact, you will provide crucial technical guidance on a wide range of EP topics and navigate complex regulatory environments for field operations personnel and management. Your responsibilities will include diligently monitoring and investigating compliance status, delivering targeted training, and providing specific recommendations to site, district, and Market Area (MA) management and operations personnel. This role may also involve leading EP team professionals and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate and implement corporate EP program policies and strategies effectively within assigned facility(s).
- Serve as the primary Facility EP contact for incident notifications, environmental concerns, permit applications, and expansion projects across water, air, and waste regulatory frameworks.
- Identify and analyze the impact of local, state, and federal regulations on operations.
- Provide robust compliance enforcement support to operating facilities by thoroughly investigating and assessing regulatory findings, conducting detailed analysis, and preparing all necessary documentation.
- Collaborate closely with site/MA staff to develop and implement effective action plans for issue resolution and engage in negotiations with regulatory agencies.
- Plan, organize, and secure all required environmental permits and other regulatory approvals, including the preparation of related documentation.
- Take ownership of developing, coordinating, recording, and overseeing field EP testing, investigations, assessments, and the provision of expert guidance.
- Manage activities related to petroleum products, leachate, landfill gas, sanitary and industrial wastewaters, stormwater, and groundwater associated with the collection, transportation, and/or disposal of both non-hazardous and hazardous wastes.
- Provide informed budget guidance for addressing facility(s) EP projects.
- Offer technical and project direction to external consultants, as well as site and Market Area staff, on EP program implementation, improvement, and maintenance, and in the resolution of current or potential environmental issues.
- Coordinate, prepare, and deliver engaging and informative EP training and education programs to facility staff.
- Maintain accurate EP data tracking system databases (e.g., Cycle, Dakota Tracer) and generate comprehensive company-related reports.
Qualifications:
The requirements outlined below represent the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
Education: Bachelor's Degree (from an accredited institution) OR in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, a High School Diploma or GED (from an accredited institution) combined with four (4) years of relevant work experience.
Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience in environmental protection (in addition to the education requirement).
