HVAC Refrigeration Service Technician

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and committed Mid-Senior Level Commercial HVAC/R Technician, to join our team. The Mid-Senior Level Commercial HVAC/R Technician is responsible for the repair, installation, and maintenance of various heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems in commercial buildings such as restaurants, schools, movie theatres and hotels. The ideal candidate will have a solid background of experience in this field, be a self-starter and driven to achieve excellence. They will have a can-do attitude, a desire to see the job through to completion to an exceptional standard with the customer’s satisfaction in mind. 

Responsibilities:

Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair commercial HVAC/R equipment, including refrigerated rack systems, RTU’s, compressors, condensers, evaporators, heat exchangers and ice machines within, or under industry-standard times.

Replace all styles of pressure control, brazed or threaded

Diagnose and repair basic hot side equipment issues.

Handle 4-6 calls per day on average

Lead a team of technicians for installs of HVACs and Walk-ins

After hours and weekend work, as well as on-call rotation as required

Order parts and equipment from correct suppliers, with speed of delivery and cost-effectiveness in mind.

Assist in parts and warranty returns as required.

Complete and submit work order and expense documentation neatly and to completion, daily.

Train and mentor junior technicians

Maintain company property including tools and vehicles to a high standard

Other duties as directed

Qualifications, Skills and Tool Requirements:

Minimum of 2-5 years of industry-specific experience

Universal EPA Certified (mandatory)

Experience working with commercial HVAC/R equipment, including refrigerated rack systems, RTU’s, compressors, condensers, evaporators and heat exchangers.

Experience working with hot side equipment (preferred)

Understands and can perform superheat, subcooling readings, calculations and adjustments of Thermal Expansion Valves (TXV’s)

Ability to read, understand and follow wiring diagrams  

Excellent and concise written and verbal communication skills

Experience using powered mobile equipment (forklifts, scissor lifts and telehandlers) considered and asset.

Has full power tool and hand tools kit, including SAE and METRIC sizes

Compensation and Benefits:

Competitive Salary $26-$40 per hour (based on experience)

On-the-job training and manufacturer class training as available

Work Hours:

7:30am – 4:30pm Weekdays

After hours, weekend and on call rotation as required
