Assistant General Manager – Cannabis Dispensary

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant General Manager to help lead one of our dispensary locations. This role is ideal for a results-driven retail professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about developing teams, driving sales, and maintaining operational excellence.

The Assistant General Manager will partner closely with the General Manager to oversee daily operations, maximize store performance, develop employees, and ensure full compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will be highly organized, customer-focused, and capable of balancing operational responsibilities with strong leadership and coaching skills.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and developing dispensary employees.

  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management to support employee growth and accountability.

  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on customer service and operational excellence.

  • Serve as Manager-on-Duty in the absence of the General Manager.

Business & Operations Management

  • Assist with overseeing daily dispensary operations and ensuring smooth workflow.

  • Support the achievement of sales goals, profitability targets, and operational objectives.

  • Help develop and implement strategies to improve store performance and customer retention.

  • Assist with scheduling, labor management, and payroll oversight.

  • Monitor productivity and operational efficiency.

Customer Experience

  • Deliver and promote exceptional customer service standards.

  • Build strong customer relationships and support patient/customer retention initiatives.

  • Address customer concerns professionally and effectively.

  • Ensure employees provide accurate product knowledge and maintain a welcoming environment.

Inventory, Cash Handling & Compliance

  • Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy and overseeing inventory control procedures.

  • Ensure all cash handling and reconciliation procedures are completed accurately.

  • Operate and oversee POS systems and related technologies.

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, state regulations, and industry requirements.

  • Protect customer confidentiality and uphold all privacy standards.

Store Operations

  • Open and close the dispensary as required.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment for customers and employees.

  • Ensure all operational, security, and safety protocols are followed.

  • Assist with special projects, store initiatives, audits, and operational improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of retail management experience.

  • Strong leadership and team development skills.

  • Experience managing daily operations, budgets, and performance metrics.

  • Strong understanding of inventory management and cash handling procedures.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and retail management systems.

  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
