Head of Tax

ROLE PURPOSE:  

We are seeking an experienced Head of Tax to join our team and oversee all aspects of our organization's tax-related activities. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in UK and international tax laws and regulations, as well as a proven track record in tax compliance, planning. Covering all aspects of tax including VAT, Corporation Tax and Global Mobility, the role ensures that any tax risks are minimised, efficient processes are in place to ensure tax compliance and that all reporting to HMRC is accurate and timely.

ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ensuring compliance with VAT legislation across all GEDU companies 

  • Working to minimise VAT leakage across the group. 

  • Working with our external advisors to ensure the group structure is the most efficient and fit-for-purpose for both current and future operating models. 

  • Assisting external accountants with Corporation Tax returns and all necessary supporting calculations and documentation 

  • Working with external advisors regarding capital allowance calculations including review of fixed asset capitalisation reviews.  

  • Ensuring timely payment of all taxation liabilities, both UK and overseas 

  • Provide guidance and support to the finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate reflection of tax positions in financial statements and disclosures. 

  • Prepare and present reports to senior management on tax strategy, compliance status, and potential tax planning opportunities. 

  • Ensure that efficient processes are in place to ensure tax compliance and that all reporting to HMRC is accurate and timely.  

Essential Skills and Experience  

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. An advanced degree (e.g., master's) or a professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CTA) is highly desirable. 

  • Experience of working in an international Tax environment, likely to have experience from the advisory side, and if possible, working within private owned companies. 

  • Prior experience of a multi-site business model would be an advantage. 

  • Comprehensive understanding of UK tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles. 

  • Proven track record in tax compliance, planning, and risk management. 

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and data. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain tax concepts to non-experts.
