As a Special Education Teacher at Devereux New York, you will play a vital role in supporting students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. You will implement prescribed curriculum and lesson plans tailored to meet the individual needs of assigned students, while providing instruction in educational, social, and vocational skill development. Responsibilities include monitoring student progress toward Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals, maintaining a structured and positive classroom environment, managing behavioral and academic challenges using positive behavioral supports, and collaborating with clinical, medical, residential, and educational team members. You will also contribute to student assessments, educational planning, documentation, and classroom program development to help students achieve meaningful growth and long-term success.

  • Bachelors w/ Cert: $58,987
  • Master's w/ Initial Cert: $60,047
  • Master's w/ Permanent/Professional Cert: $63,360

Devereux Day Academy Highland offers high-quality, innovative special education programming for students in grades K-5 with the following primary diagnoses: autism, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, learning disabilities and speech/language impairments. Located in Highland, New York, we serve up to 40 students across five classrooms, supporting youth who require a higher level of care than may be provided in their local schools.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in education, with SPED certification preferred.
  • Experience with Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support strategies required.
