Inside the Role

This engineering position supports the Braking & Stability Systems team. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of electronic brake controls architecture and components in support of current and next generation braking systems and features. The position will be responsible for issue management with critical suppliers for function and feature development. As a System Integration Engineer IV, you will be responsible for being the system expert of the scalable braking system platform (SBSP) and all associated activities for ensuring the successful integration in our CEEAce platforms at DTNA. This role will require extensive global collaboration with internal and external partners, as well as require the ability to travel and drive commercial vehicles including on public roads to test the braking system in various climate and surface conditions.   • Develop complex vehicle braking components and systems. Apply engineering principles to help create designs that are safe, reliable, serviceable, energy efficient, and competitive.
  • Independently analyze and proactively provide creative, technically-feasible solutions to problems encountered in validation and production. Promptly resolve plant build issues.
  • Lead the communication of our multi-tier suppliers and internal departments such as Testing, Analysis, Compliance, Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing, to ensure conformance of designs to specifications, customer expectations, engineering practices and government regulations.
  • Independently prioritize assignments consistent with business goals and successfully implement projects on time and within budget.
  • Proactively inform management of project issues, delays, and risks with expert level communication and provide recommendations on critical decisions
  • Generate and implement ideas that continuously improve the work environment and team culture, systems, tools, and processes as well as product costs and quality.
  • Perform Functional Safety analysis and ensure designs are compliant with all federal motor vehicle laws and regulations in multiple countries.
  • Ability to travel for global design and testing workshops, including international travel.
  • Guide and mentor L7 and L6 engineers on processes and tools to share expertise and raise the capability of the team

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelors Degree with 5+ years of relevant complex component or system design experience or 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Feature development process experience
  • Experience with engineering documentation systems
  • Proven ability to independently lead efforts to resolve technical problem
  • Experience preparing and giving executive management presentations
  • Strong knowledge of DTNA Engineering Systems/Tools
  • DTNA product development experience
  • EDEX, EDLS, CANalyzer, CAN tools, Diagnostic Link
  • CDL holder, L2 or higher, or ability to get CDL within first 6 months of employment

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Pneumatic brake controls architecture and sub systems design and development experience
  • Knowledge of FMVSS121, FMVSS136, and FMVSS105 regulations
  • Antilock Brake System (ABS) development experience
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC) experience
  • Electronic Braking System (EBS/sBSP) experience
