Vocational and Upfit vehicle applications are a fast growing segment where the customers need a variety of flexible functionalities that can be implemented quickly. In this role, you will have the unique chance to drive and lead this growing topic in a new team in the Vehicle Controls and Upfit department, with a high focus on in-house software development for highly customized and flexible functions for the vocational and upfitter applications. This role will combine a high focus on upfitter specific requirements, while leveraging the global software development platforms for efficient implementation and reusability through the different international business units of Daimler Trucks. Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000.00 to $121,000.00 USD.

Pay offered is dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA

Responsibilities: - Define Interface Design and Concept Development to implement complex vocational customer requests through direct interaction with vocational and product strategy organizations - Coordinate specific project development requests from local vocational projects that impact the Vehicle Control and Upfit team, align with the team, and create the implementation plan - Plan and ensure the complete migration of existing features in CEEA+ to CEEAce projects - Interface with feature owners, system owners, software models in Vehicle Control and Upfit, and Extension Module Cabin component owners for proper software implementation - Manage current issues in XMC1.0 series platform, exchange solutions with the Vehicle Control and Upfit team, and work with the software team and XMC component owners for implementation and time planning - Coordinate service pack inputs, software implementation, and deployment to the field, working with the software model team, segment strategy, and service team for release announcements - Lead continuous improvement efforts in the team, identifying weaknesses and opportunities in process, product, collaboration, and behavior - Interface with Hardware in the Loop and Vehicle validation teams for final feature release

Knowledge You Should Bring

Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in electrical or software engineering from an accredited university/college with 2 to 4 years of experience, or 4 to 6 years of experience in lieu of a degree - Previous experience working in a global development organization with teams and colleagues across the world - Experience working with software development tools, methods, and processes - Excellent understanding and demonstrated experience with North American vocational truck customer expectations, particularly Truck Equipment Manufacturers - Demonstrated experience working with Service, Manufacturing, Vocational, and IT engineering organizations, and the associated processes - Experience with vehicle data bus, CAN communications, and embedded controllers - Experience leading and mentoring others in identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems - Excellent communication skills to interact with customers, market councils, and other industry-relevant forums - Ability to work in a flexible environment with shifting priorities - Attached resume is required

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

Additional qualifications: - Good experience working with Functional Safety (ISO26262) and CyberSecurity - Extensive knowledge and experience with Daimler Truck North America CHEC+/Quickfit environment - Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - Basic understanding of Daimler Truck Model-based Software development processes, tools, and methods
