Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize various modes of transportation—cars, motorcycles, bicycles—or perform foot patrols within assigned areas to deter criminal activity and enforce traffic regulations with precision.

  • Conduct initial evaluations as well as thorough investigations into incidents involving individuals or groups; engage in surveillance operations; respond promptly to dispatch calls; attend scenes requiring intervention or legal action.

  • Mediate disputes in private or public settings to maintain order; handle complaints professionally; interview individuals exhibiting suspicious behavior using empathetic yet critical approaches.

Education Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or G.E.D is required for this position.

  • Candidates with higher education such as an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in fields like criminal justice, social sciences, or related areas are highly preferred—one year of college coursework is advantageous.

  • Must acquire Kansas Police Officer certification within one year from the start date.

Position Requirements:
Applicants must be 21 years old by their start date. For specialized officer roles: residency within a 40-minute response radius is required post-hiring (initial hires exempted).
A valid Kansas driver’s license is mandatory for this position.

Eligibility Criteria:
• U.S citizenship is required. • Applicants must have no felony convictions nor any charges involving domestic violence offenses or serious misdemeanors on record.

Compensation: $27.76-$29.15 per hour ($57K-$60K annually). DOQ EOE
